From May 17 to 24, Jerez is transformed and gives us one of the most beautiful weeks of the year: the Horse Fair. For us, who live the city with so much passion, it is a very special moment and we love to share it with those who come to discover it for the first time.

The Alumbrado and its magic
It all begins on the night of Saturday, May 17, when thousands of light bulbs are lit at the same time illuminating the fairgrounds in the González Hontoria Park. It is an emotional moment, one of those that you will never forget. Seeing the cover lit for the first time, surrounded by excited people, is something you have to experience at least once in your life.
We recommend you to have your cell phone handy (or your camera, if you are a classic), because that first night is pure magic. An image that you will surely want to keep.
A Fair with soul: tradition, art and roots
The Horse Fair is not just a party: it is identity, history and roots. Here we pay tribute to the Andalusian horse, to our equestrian art and to the culture that makes us unique. Throughout the week, the grounds are filled with elegance and tradition: purebred horses, vintage carriages, traditional costumes… It’s like a trip back in time, but full of life.
If you like horses, you cannot miss the exhibitions of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. They are really impressive.
Gastronomy, wine and art
And of course, if there is something that is not lacking in the fair is good food and better atmosphere. In the “casetas” typical dishes such as sherry cabbage, hot garlic or the classic fried fish are served, always accompanied by a good Fino, Amontillado or the inevitable rebujito.
Music can be heard everywhere: flamenco, sevillanas, rumbitas? And in any corner can arise a song, a dance or even a small improvised concert. The joy here is contagious.
